SIN (gr. hamartia)

 

Defined:

 

·        Voluntary rebellion against God’s rule

·        “missing the mark” that God has set for us

·        Transgressing God’s law

·        Committing a wrong; breaking God’s law +

·        Act of wrongdoing + and disobedience

·        State of alienation from God

·        Rupture of personal relationship with God

·        Betrayal of trust God places in us

·        State of enmity (hatred) with God

·        Malignant, personal power that holds a person in its grasp

·        A disease, a poison

·        Ruthless power that controls and enslaves us

·        Power of evil and wickedness

·        Anti-God, anti-righteousness, anti-life, anti-freedom, anti-creation
